Happy Halloween, Beautique Beauties! Are you all decked out in your spooky costumes today? We sure hope so!
Halloween can be quite the glamorous holiday, right? Think about it: here’s a day when you have a chance to go far beyond the usual and really get creative with your hair and makeup. Really, it’s a beautician’s dream! But you don’t have to be a professional to get these looks. All you need is a steady hand (or a friend with a steady hand) and a willingness to try something new.
Here are a few of our favorite makeup applications totally worth a shot this Halloween:
There are so many reasons why we adore this look. For one, it’s super simple so anyone could do it. For two, it’s cute and versatile meaning you can be any cat you’d like. Add some ears, a tail, and a simple outfit, and you’re set for the night! The look takes a classic cat eye (obviously) and pairs it with a simple darkening of the tip of the nose connected to a darkened top lip. Add some dots on your cheeks for whiskers, and tada! You’re a cat. Quick and easy.
Now this look is another classic, also using dark colors. This one takes a turn for the scarier side, however, which is always fun on Halloween. With a white base, cover your face completely. (Add in your neck and shoulders too, if you dare!) Add light strokes of black as hallowed areas on your forehead, cheeks, collarbones, etc. Go much darker around your eyes, covering them fully when closed, and then make a triangle shape on your nose with the same deepness. Finally, you’re to the distinctive skeletal mouth. From the corners of your mouth, extend a black lip liner out towards your earlobes. Now simply draw vertical lines through the line from end to end. There you have it. Your simple Halloween skeleton. (We’ve also seen this done in half-face. Pretty cool, right?)
So dolls can be creepy when it comes to Halloween. We’re guessing that’s the point. But what’s creepy, is also sort of cute. Most importantly, it’s easy and doable. And this one is all about the eyes and lips. Doll makeup is so exaggerated, meaning you’ll get to draw huge eyes on yourself a la Lady Gaga Bad Romance. A dark liner will do the trick, with white liner on the lower, inner eye lid to make your eyes appear wider. This white liner can extend to your bottom outer lid as well if you make your eyes even larger. Here’s where it get’s more fun: Now you can add lashes. Huge, long lashes that you never get to wear anywhere else! You can get individual lashes or those sold on strips. Attach on the top and bottom where you’ve drawn the eye to in black. For lips, go heart shaped in the middle or well beyond your natural lips and fill in. Now, look at you. What a doll you are!
Even if you won’t be in full costume this year, you can still get in the Halloween spirit with these simple, DIY makeup looks. Share your pictures with us or stop by the shop! We’d love to see your creativity.
Have a fun and safe Halloween!
